Prof. Dr. Regina Dittmann, from Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany, received a degree in Physics from the University of Cologne, Germany in 1990 and the PhD in Physics from University of Gießen, Germany in 1994. Since November 2012, she is also a professor at RWTH Aachen University. Regina Dittmann is current leading a group of 15 members working on the atomically controlled growth of oxides, memristive devices and neuromorphic circuits and she is operating the electronic oxides cluster laboratory (EOC). She is an internationally recognized expert on memristive devices, in particular on the elucidation of their working and failure mechanisms by spectroscopic analysis.
Luca Larcher received the “Laurea” degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Padova, Italy, in 1998, and the Ph.D. degree also in Electrical Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 2002. In 2001 he was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where he is currently Full Professor of Electronics since the 1st of November 2017. He has been involved in several projects supported by EU, Italian government and Regional government, such as FP7 ENIAC Lab4MEMS II, FP7 IP Gossamer, JTI-ENIAC Mirandela, JTI-ENIAC END, FP7 NoE Nanofunction, ICT-for-AGRI Stratos and coordinated many others (JTI-ENIAC Mirandela, JTI-ENIAC END, FP7 NoE Nanofunction, ISOTRACTOR). He has also collaborated with several scientific and industrial institutions (in addition to several universities in Italy), including: Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), Trento; IMEC (Belgium); CEA-LETI (Grenoble, France); Istituto Nazionale di Fisica della Materia (INFM); Saifun Semiconductors (Israel); Sematech (USA); ST Microelectronics (Italy and France); University of California, Berkely, California (USA) and many others.
Bernabé Linares-Barranco received the B. S. degree in electronic physics in June 1986 and the M. S. degree in microelectronics in September 1987, both from the University of Seville , Sevilla , Spain . From September 1988 until August 1991 he was a Graduate Student at the Dept. of Electrical Engineering of Texas A&M University. He received a first Ph.D. degree in high-frequency OTA-C oscillator design in June 1990 from the University of Seville, Spain, and a second Ph.D deegree in analog neural network design in December 1991 from Texas A&M University , College-Station, USA. He has been involved with circuit design for telecommunication circuits, VLSI emulators of biological neurons, VLSI neural based pattern recognition systems, hearing aids, precision circuit design for instrumentation equipment, VLSI transistor mismatch parameters characterization, and over the past 20 years has been deeply involved with neuromorphic spiking circuits and systems, with strong emphasis on vision and exploiting nanoscale memristive devices for learning. He is co-founder of two start-ups, Prophesee SA (www.prophesee.ai) and GrAI-Matter-Labs SAS (www.graimatterlabs.ai), both on neuromorphic hardware.
Nitin Chawla is a Senior Principal Scientist in the Technology and Design Platform Group at STMicroelectronics. Nitin's current area of work includes transversal projects primarily in the field of Low Power Neural computing architectures for Embedded Systems, Ultra Low Power Signal Processing and Digitally Assisted SOC Infrastructure/Connectivity IP's. Before joining STMicroelectronics he was the Chief Scientist for the High Level Synthesis Product Group at Mentor Graphics corporation. Nitin has 9 Granted and several pending US patents. He has published at several top-tier IEEE conferences and journals, including a Best Paper Award in the area of SOC Design.
